Karijini Pilates + Canyoning Retreat
12th - 19th May 2025
Join us for a once in a lifetime adventure into the depths of ancient Karijini!
This is no ordinary retreat! Immersed in one of Australia's most breathtaking landscapes, our unique journey of adventure is designed to awaken your senses, inviting you to rediscover your strength, challenge your self-imposed limits and reconnect with your playful sense of self. Just as the landscape of Karijini is both rugged and resilient, it also holds a delicate beauty and fluidity that constantly transforms with the elements. As you immerse yourself in the powerful contrasts of Karijini, you'll experience a journey that balances strength, flexibility, FUN, and tranquility. An incredibly unique opportunity to experience growth and renewal as we absorb the energy of the land that reflects the resilience and fluidity within us all.
We've teamed up with the only licensed commercial operator, Spacechameleon Adventure Co, that takes people into the wild heart of Karijini - past the public access areas, into RESTRICTED class 6 gorges and canyons. Thousands of people visit Karijini each year and only a handful get to go where you will go! Experience what most don't get to see! Slide down a natural rock slide in Knox Gorge, abseil a waterfall in Weano Gorge, ascend The Chute and visit the Centre of the Earth in Hancock Gorge, and paddle in tubes through Red Gorge (only accessible with us) and Joffre Gorge (there is a secret 6km of Joffre Gorge only accessible with us).
Indulge in daily Pilates, Movement and Mindfulness sessions - from restorative sunset sessions basking in the red outback glow, to Pilates sessions influenced by the strength and beauty of Karijini's transformative landscape. We will move with the elements, sit with mother nature, submerse in her sacred waters, journal, and enjoy free time to reconnect with nature, your community and yourself.

The Location
Karijini National Park is an iconic, unspoiled nature-based destination located in the Pilbara Region of Western Australia. This ancient part of the planet is filled with unique and diverse landscapes, with flora and fauna found nowhere else on earth.
Karijini is famous for its spectacular gorges and canyons, dramatic waterfalls, rocky creeks, refreshing waterholes and colours ranging from pindan red-orange to deep blue-purple rocks and jade green water.
Travelling through the canyons, you'll feel like you've taken a journey back in time to the centre of the earth. Billions of years in the making, the slow process of erosion has carved the shape of the land out of rocks that are over 2.5 billion years old to form this intriguing landscape and complex ecology.
Be one of the few that have seen all 5 parts of the class 6 restricted canyons. Add to this, 6 non-restricted canyons of spectacular beauty; a Mount Bruce Summit Hike; Stunning red earth and turquoise waters; Breathtaking sunsets and sunrises; Mindful movement sessions; Freshly prepared a-la-carte dishes with an outback twist, and you have yourself a once in a lifetime adventure!

All sessions have been thoughtfully designed to either prepare your body for the day ahead or unwind and integrate the day's activities.

Why we teamed up with spacechameleon adventure co
I knew that if we ever ran a retreat it would have to be different! It would have to stem deeper than the healing that most retreats promise. Because sometimes you don't need another healing practice, you simply need a moment to breathe, to sit in nature, to reconnect with the playful child within you, to rediscover JOY and FUN, and rewire those self-limiting thoughts you've created about yourself. You are not broken, you don't need to be fixed, and you are far more capable than you believe!
Here's where Spacechameleon Adventure Co comes in... Sven and I crossed paths as I was planning a team building event for our teachers and our conversation lead into a unique retreat opportunity that complimented all our values around movement, mindset and life in general. I was meant to be!
Sven has been a passionate outdoor enthusiast since childhood and has been leading groups through Karijini's Class 6 Canyons since 2013. Sven is a qualified and highly experienced canyon, abseiling, climbing and hiking guide with substantial experience facilitating group tours. He is the only licensed commercial tour operator who can take people into the heart of Karijini, beyond the public access areas. His mission is to help you reconnect with yourself and the world around you, learn new things, and have FUN. However, don’t mistake Sven’s playful nature and great sense of humour for a lack of seriousness! If there is one thing that Sven prioritises above all else, it is safety. From having the right equipment to training his guides and guests, Sven puts your safety first. He holds a Diploma in Outdoor Recreation, a Remote Area First Aid qualification, a Bronze Medallion with Royal Life Saving Australia and is a trained Lifeguard. Sven not only leads groups in the great outdoors himself, but he teaches others the operational and safety skills required to pursue a similar career path. He is a registered National Outdoor Leader Registration Scheme (NOLRS) instructor and a Cert 4 Trainer and Assessor.
Quite simply, there is no other guide I would trust to take you through these places. You are in the safest, most experienced hands.

MICHELLE RANN - Owner of Perth Hills Pilates
A dancer since the age of 4, Michelle has an extensive background in movement. In 2008 she was accepted to study Dance at the WA Academy of Performing Arts and went on to complete her Dance Teacher training where she first started teaching in 2011. Her passion for movement naturally progressed to Pilates where she fell in love with the practice and received comprehensive training through the full Pilates syllabus. Michelle is also a certified Barre teacher and has taken additional studies in prenatal and postnatal training. In 2015 Michelle found herself working with a range of clients at Melbourne's premier mind and body health clubs. It was here her passion for helping pregnant and postpartum mums bloomed and led her to opening a small 1:1 Pilates Studio in South Melbourne. Michelle has since welcomed two kids of her own and relocated home to Perth. She genuinely loves helping people improve their strength and mobility, and calm their mind, to feel more confident in their body. As a mum, Michelle knows just how important it is for emotional wellbeing to reconnect with your mind and body. Surrounded by nature in the Perth Hills, Michelle now runs two boutique Pilates Studios, Perth Hills Pilates, in Mahogany Creek and Kalamunda. Each studio is a tranquil retreat inviting members to reconnect with their mind and body and to the world around them. |
